10 Fun Family-Friendly Activities on Christmas Day
Face it, Christmas Day is only fun in the morning, watching the kids tear open their gifts with hope-filled eyes and screams of pure bliss! Perhaps your significant other is also surprised because they thought there was nothing left after purchasing for the kids, yet you managed to save a few coins and check their search history for their most coveted desire for Christmas.
But after opening gifts, brunch, sitting around chatting, and a few mimosas – how else will you fill-up the rest of the holiday?
Here are ten fun family-centric activities to consider on Christmas Day.
1. Host a Christmas movie marathon: Gather your friends or family and watch your favorite Christmas movies back-to-back. Remember the popcorn and hot cocoa!
2. Organize a holiday-themed game night: Play festive games like Christmas trivia, charades, or a holiday-themed scavenger hunt. You can also try board games with a Christmas twist.
3. Have a DIY ornament-making party: Get crafty and make your own Christmas ornaments. Provide supplies like clear ornaments, paint, glitter, and ribbons. It’s a great way to personalize your Christmas tree.
4. Plan a holiday baking session: Gather your friends or family and bake delicious Christmas treats together. You can make cookies and gingerbread houses or even try your hand at a Yule log cake.
5. Go on a Christmas lights tour: Take a drive or walk around your neighborhood to admire the beautiful Christmas lights displays. You can also research popular light displays in your area and visit them.
6. Volunteer or give back: Christmas is a time for giving, so consider volunteering at a local charity or organizing a donation drive for those in need. It’s a meaningful way to spread holiday cheer.
7. Host a holiday cocktail party: Invite friends for a festive cocktail party. Serve holiday-themed drinks and appetizers, and enjoy good company and conversation. Ask each guest to bring drinks inspired by their favorite holiday movie!
8. Take a winter hike or nature walk: If you live in an area with beautiful winter scenery, bundle up and go for a hike or nature walk. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise.
9. Plan a virtual Christmas party: If you can’t be together in person, organize a virtual Christmas party with your friends or family. Play games, exchange gifts, and enjoy each other’s company through video chat.
10. Relax and enjoy self-care: Christmas can be a busy time, so remember to take care of yourself. Set aside time to relax, read a book, bathe, or do something that brings you joy.
Remember, spending time with loved ones and creating lasting memories is the most important thing. Enjoy the holiday season!
